Hey there! I welcome you to Business Wellness, my senior-project resource for both employees and employers to learn about and overcome their various struggles in the ongoing workplace. I got into creating this blog for the following questions I would like to ask you now:

Have you lately been struggling or extremely unhappy with your job? Have you had the epiphany that where you worked was not the right fit for you? Or, have you as an employer suffered from low employee satisfaction, and therefore performance or abundance? I know that I can say ‘yes’ to those first two, and I am sure you can too.

As a striking result of the COVID-19 pandemic, employee dissatisfaction and overall unhappiness has heavily contributed to an ongoing economic trend we’re going through, known as the Great Resignation Era. Described as being a movement of employees voluntarily resigning from their jobs en masse, with the most cited reasons including standstill wages amid rising costs of living and healthcare, lack of benefits, and much more.

I started this blog because, as you can guess – I was working during COVID and suffered extreme burn-out and dissatisfaction with the jobs that I had. Working at both a local supermarket and a Jersey Shore police department and dealing with thousands of people daily while COVID was at its highest, I began to realize the incredibly poor treatment I was receiving from my management. As well, I discovered just how little the benefits and emotional support were provided with the jobs that I had. I can say, without a doubt, how not once were my coworkers or I ever offered mental health counseling or sessions to check in on how we felt.

Once the pandemic lifted I was able to go back to in-person classes, as well as undertake a college internship I had with a small NJ company. I began to finally learn about the Great Resignation and the phenomena and business practices that came out of it. Thanks to that, I realized more about my own work-ethic, capabilities, and how to better enjoy the work I found myself in. As a result, I have been more successful in being able to increase my own productivity and work satisfaction.

My ultimate goal is to shed light onto the business side of the Great Resignation. In doing so, we can begin to learn more about ourselves and what steps we need to take to make work productive and once again enjoyable. I hope I can help you find this out for yourself, as well as to help employers learn and improve their own business practices from the input and perspectives that this blog will possess. That includes input from other employers! This resource will help you consider making the necessary changes and choices to make work better for everyone.
